Our 5 EcoSomatic Zones: ReSelfing as Gaiac Bodies
At EcoSex we propose a new EcoSexual framework for “what we are”. To achieve this new paradigm, we focus on what Charles Eisenstein has called “Technologies of ReUnion”. Our new paradigm therefore includes merging formerly separated and specialized fields of knowledge: for example bringing together the fields of permaculture, psychology and sociology we can begin to see humans and the environment as one interconnected holon or hologram. This helps us heal our sense of isolation from the environment by letting go of the old stories about Nature being a hostile entity that is separate from us. Instead we can see that each of us individually, and all of us collectively, are layered interconnected Gaiac bodies. This type of holistic or constellational thinking prepares us to deepen our understanding and embodiment of both interdependence and autonomy. We can then begin to deepen our skill sets and alter our communication styles in order to create new ways forward together. We believe it is crucial that we replace our current focus on money and competition with love & connection.
One possible frame for helping us develop this new self awareness is to clarify what our interconnected Gaiac bodies are by distinguishing them as 5 EcoSomatic zones
Zone Zero, refers to the intrapsychic, meaning your own Self; mind/body/spirit. At EcoSex we are tending Zone Zero by providing daily opportunities for dance, yoga, embodiment meditation, nature walks and other solitary, inward focused activities. Zone Zero activities help us focus on our internal felt sense, deepening autonomy and making sexual sovereignty possible.
Zone One, refers to the interpersonal interactions between Zone Zeros. From one on one (dyadic) interactions between two people up to groups of 6-7. Zone One experiences will occur continually as you meet other people at the event and the members of Mt. Baker Farm and Living Love Revolution Communities and begin to network and cross-pollinate.
Zone Two refers to social interactions that move from experiences that focus on individuality to ones which develop group belonging. They can recall family of origin constellations but our intention is to heal and replace wounding with connection and begin to develop a sense of hive mind. To help us work in the realm of Zone Two, we participate in 3 days of path work; exploring a sense of togetherness while being guided on a ecosexual initiation by the Path Mentors.
Zone Three refers to larger social systems, including concerns around race, gender, class and ethnicity. We are strongly focused on moving away from oppressive systems of social hierarchy and embedding ourselves in an interconnected web of Gaiac bodies. We value solidarity: the sense of a shared responsibility for doing the work of social justice in order to ensure that those with less autonomy increase their access to autonomy. This is a grand social experiment and may take a long time. At EcoSex we pay special attention to language, allow self identity and develop new practices such as the Safer Braver Space Policy. We extend our desire for freedom and self expression to the non-humans we share this planet with. We also explore new states of consciousness and new ways of being by participating in large group rituals for the benefit of all beings.
Zone Four includes the non-human ecological systems of the Mt. Baker Farm campground and surrounding forest and all the creatures and elemental beings that call this land home. Our intention is to include Ancestors, Deity and the mysterious “unseen but palpable” beings who are co-evolving with us.
Zone Five is the Gaiac bodies of the Earth herself. Part of the EcoSexual movement is to envision Nature as our Lover rather than our Mother, a metaphor that asks us to be in mutual and reciprocal relation with her. We use our imaginations to send
our Lover Gaia energy and connect with her erotic life force in our daily practices.
